Gucci Vintage Carry-On

Gucci is my go to favorite for luggage, timeless classic and functional pieces, if you can afford it then try it. Saw this bag the other day and the size is perfect for those long weekend trips. Material is solid as well won't stain when roughed up. Frida Giannini, creative director, designed this classic piece and my hat goes off.

From the back streets of Florence to the well-upholstered seats of a Learjet 60, for the past 90 years Gucci luggage has been a favourite of the smartest travellers. Creative director Frida Giannini has designed this white canvas suitcase with brown leather trim as a throwback to the brand's Sixties glory days when it was described as "the pinnacle of chic", and the Aga Khan's Porto Cervo jet-set sported the classic green-and-red colours with pride.

The bag is made from a material known as GG Plus, on which layers of PVC are spread to make it waterproof. This is printed to give it the characteristic rough finish. The GG logo may be one of the most recognisable on the planet but it is used here with discretion, so you'll scream style not bling as you head for the lounge in Terminal 5. And as it is the perfect size for a carry-on, you won't have to worry about the white canvas being marked as the baggage handlers chuck it on to a pile of old Antlers at the other end.
