Converse by John Varvatos Painted Flag & Studded Chuck Taylor All Star
JV Painted Flag...yup
The JV Painted Flag and Studded Chuck Taylor All Star shoes take a DIY approach to classic stars and bars. In true punk Americana style, the Painted Flag Chuck Taylor All Star Hi is reinvented this season in monotone colors with a paint overlay application and finished with studs. The signature painted canvas Chuck Taylor All Star Hi is intricately embellished with pyramid studs around the ankle, creating the ultimate rock ‘n roll statement. Look for both of these via Converse by John Varvatos accounts.

HD3 Slyde
Designed by Jorg Hysek, the new HD3 Slyde is an LCD touchscreen watch that is on the radar of many techies and watch fans alike. The slated release for this Swiss timepiece is September of this year, and I'm hoping that it's a firm date. No official pricing has yet been released however in speaking with Jorg he's expecting a starting price (hinting there will be more than one version) of between 3500 and 3900 euros. Watch out for it at BaselWorld 2011. Oh and this one looks like a must for a techie! See you in September Slyde.

BMW working on electric 5-series sedan for China, we still can't get a diesel
Surely it'll come elsewhere eventually, but for now an electric version of BMW's generously proportioned 5-series sedan looks destined exclusively for China. As part of the company's partnership with Brilliance China Automotive, BMW Brilliance Automotive is planning to create a pure EV 5-series and to show it off this year -- at some point. No further details are known about the car, though we're quite sure why this is happening. EVs are becoming more and more popular there as China struggles to shrug off a massive foreign oil dependency and BMW saw a similarly massive 87 percent jump in growth of its sales in China in 2010. So, there's your motive, but we'll still have to wait a bit for the rest of the details.

The first look of Uniqlo's lookbook dropped this week and what really caught my eye was this jacket. The line drops on the 26th of this month (January) so be prepared. The technical aspects of this jacket really stand out and the colorways chosen were also stellar (hit more). Head over to Highsnobiety to check out the entire lookbook.

Ouch, me and Bugs baby.
A look at the exclusive packaging links some of the design executions with the inspirations for the sneaker. Together with an interesting material contrast, candy shaped packaging and printed packaging paper makes for one of the more memorable Year of the…releases over the course of the sneaker’s last few releases.
The Nike Air Force 1 Supreme Year of the Rabbit will release with the special packaging seen here on January 23, 2011 with a suggested retail price of ¥2,599 RMB (approximately $393 USD). Lisa Eisner for Oliver Peoples: Devendra Banhart's Love-In
This short film was created by Lisa Eisner for Oliver Peoples and features folk musician Devandra Banhart. Again working with his real life partner Rebecca Schwartz, Banhart and his girlfriend are captured at their most intimate. Eisner sought to cast a genuine couple in homage to French New Wave classics like Godard’s Une Femme Mariée which were able to elicit chemistry unparalleled by actors. The film was shot in architect John Lautner’s 1961 Los Angeles creation, the Rainbow House, to the sounds of Banhart’s “Brindo” from 2009′s What Will We Be. Of course we shouldn’t forget the elegant selection of eyewear on show, courtesy of Oliver People’s latest collection.
