Shock of all horrors, Gran Turismo 5 will actually, finally launch in Japan and Europe on November 3. Of course, being more concerned with hardware as we are, our excitement is focused on the rich blue hue that will adorn PS3 consoles bundled with the grandiosely delayed racing game over in Nippon this fall. The ¥35,980 ($421) Gran Turismo 5 Racing Pack will be composed of a Limited Edition copy of the game plus a repainted skinny PlayStation 3 with a 160GB hard drive. Time to give your old importer buddy a call, eh?

It's official MJ is back...even if only in the virtual sense I'm there! 2K baby. DAMN Mike was truly the greatest player EVER to play the game. As first outed by ESPN last week, basketball hall of famer Michael Jordan is coming out of retirement again, this time to feature on the cover of 2K Sports' NBA 2K11. Jason Argent, the label's VP of marketing, confirmed the deal to CNBC today, saying that, "Actually getting this done is the most ridiculous win of all-time."
The original ESPN report noted that Jordan -- and even some of his former teammates -- would likely be playable in the game, but Argent had nothing to offer CNBC on that front, other than to say players can expect "some really good surprises." However, in the same article, Jordan is quoted in a statement as saying, "I'm looking forward to getting back out on the court, virtually."

No surprise here: Sony just officially announced the PlayStation Move motion controller at GDC 2010, calling it the "next generation of motion gaming" because it's so precise -- latency is about the same as the DualShock 3. As expected, it uses the PlayStation Eye camera to track the controller, and Sony says it becomes an "extension of your body." The plan is not only to engage casual gamers, but to use the precision of the controller to create "new experiences for core gamers" -- many of the demo videos we saw involved using a controller video in each hand, and there were quote a few demos of action / RPG games. We also saw a demo of Move Party, which uses the camera to do augmented reality gaming and video chat. The demos are pretty impressive -- Sony's not kidding when it says the Move is incredibly precise. There's also going to be a secondary "subcontroller" with an analog stick for shooters -- you can play all the way through SOCOM4 with just the Move and the sub-controller. (Yes, it's just like the Wii Nunchuk, only wireless.)
